Neckles
Nigel Neckles (28) is a qualified youth worker, who works for Newham council. As well as his youth work role he assists the club with the coaching and mentoring of the young people. Being a youth worker, he finds making conversation with young people an easy task and tries to focus more on the non-football related issues. Apart from this he is also the assistant coach for the senior team and has recently passed the Level 1 coaching award.
Nigel believes strongly in the club ethos of emotional, social and physical development being of equal importance. He brings a strong motivational ethic and much of his physical presence to training, joining in with the young people to set the physical standards. He has been with the club for the past four years and helps out with organisation of the club’s coaching structure. Although part of the senior set-up, he takes charge of coaching for the younger group from time to time.
“Manor Park United is a success story that I hope goes from strength to strength. Being a small part of it, has shown me how people can make the best of themselves, by working together.”
Nigel is currently in the 2nd year of a degree in Development and International Relations, with the intention of working in deprived parts of the world to empower those young and old people who are suffering from the many disadvantages associated with poverty of developing nations. “I think you can help make the world you would like to live in, but only by encouraging mutual respect between yourself and others, with all their difference and diversity.”
